Detailed Definition of Analytics:

Analytics is the practice of collecting, measuring, and interpreting data about how people interact with a website, app, or campaign, turning raw activity logs into insights a team can actually act on rather than leaving numbers as an unexamined pile of data. Modern analytics platforms track everything from basic traffic sources down to detailed behavioral flows, but the real value comes from asking the right questions of that data rather than simply having access to it. Because dashboards can just as easily overwhelm a team with irrelevant numbers as they can inform good decisions, most mature marketing teams focus their reporting around a small set of metrics tied directly to specific business goals.

Examples of Analytics:

Google Analytics has become the default tool most website owners rely on for analytics, tracking everything from where visitors come from to how long they stay on each page.

A sports team’s front office increasingly leans on this kind of data to make roster decisions, valuing detailed performance numbers over a scout’s gut instinct alone.

A small bakery checking its Instagram numbers each week might notice that carousel posts consistently outperform single photos, quietly reshaping how it plans future content.
