Better search clarity powered by AI, and what it means for your business.
Google has introduced a new feature, Query Groups, in Search Console Insights, giving you a quick, organized view of the main topics your website covers.
Instead of manually sifting through dozens (or hundreds) of similar search phrases, Query Groups now bundles them together under meaningful categories, like “SEO,” “kitchen remodel,” or “HVAC service.” This allows for quicker insights into what your audience is searching for and how well your content is performing for those themes.
Google’s Explanation
In their announcement, Google stated:
“We are excited to announce Query Groups, a powerful Search Console Insights feature that groups similar search queries.”
“Instead of a long, cluttered list of individual queries, you will now see lists of queries representing the main groups that interest your audience… They are designed to provide a better high-level perspective of your queries and don’t affect ranking.”
What It Looks Like
Here’s an example snapshot of the new Query Groups report:

In this report, you might see terms like ‘search engine optimization,’ ‘seo optimization,’ and ‘seo website’ all grouped under “SEO.” If that group sees fewer clicks or impressions, you now know there’s a trend worth investigating, fast.
Availability
Google is rolling out this update gradually. You’ll see it appear in your Search Console Insights as a new card—available only to sites with enough query volume to generate meaningful groupings.
